Stone Meditations
Meditation on stones as sculptures
Since a couple of years I put stones on their edge, and balance them until they remain in that position; it's a particular discipline of Land Art, which as of late 1990's has become very well known, and popular. Since we had a lot of time while being on La Gomera, I began to search for larger stones to put them on their edge and balance them; and also compose a larger figure with a "head", which I like most. Aside, I composed a "forest of stones", a small composition of stones. Sometimes positioning a stone upside down, and balance until it remains can be a matter of 1-2 minutes if it goes fast, but it also can take 20-30 minutes - and then it becomes meditative to handle a stone for so long until it remains in balance and stands.
